Things To Do In A Pandemic

It’s been well over a year since my last post. Lots has happened in the meantime, the pandemic probably stands out most. I can’t say that I’ve felt overly creative throughout – it has not been a vacation.

Initial feeling of everyone being home all the time…

My camera has sat on the shelf or in a drawer somewhere (or buried under a pile of stuff that everyone being home all the time leaves lying around, more likely). I know others have taken to documenting this time but I haven’t felt that way at all.

Work your butt off. At home. While serving three meals a day, snacks, homeschooling, listening to anxious kids and not going crazy myself, if possible. A little piece of chocolate did help me get through this….

What I did get for my birthday right at the beginning of these crazy times (if I hear ‘unprecedented’ one more time I’m going to be sick, I think…) was a new phone with an upgraded camera – so actually even though I haven’t felt creative or like documenting anything I have still taken many pictures.

Watch for rainbows.

My schedule is now filling with all kinds of items again and after not having had anything at all scheduled for months, that alone is starting to feel slightly overwhelming, let alone the many unknowns still out there.

Dig up another veggie bed.

Still, I thought this would be a good time to pick up this blog again and share photos – even though I am not sure anyone has noticed at all that I had abandoned this site for the past year or that anyone may notice it is now being updated.

Start running. Again. Slow.

I also may need to come to terms with the fact that lugging my ‘real’ camera around is not really practical and smartphone photography is as much ‘real’ as the other kind of photography.

Bake bread. Of course.

So on to new beginnings and a string of unconnected photos of what one can do with their time during a pandemic. A bit of an Instagram repeat, but I have to start somewhere and hopefully find my way along the way.
